WHO WE ARE

The Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF), located in Houston, Texas, USA, was established by Nisha, Rahul, Jainesh and his wife Mamta, and Dharmesh and his wife Archana to honor their parents, Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta, from Mumbai, India. Bhupat and Jyoti instilled in their children the importance of education, which improves outcomes for individuals and society.

For more than 20 years, MFF has supported worldwide quality-of-life initiatives and funded more than 100 organizations that advance access to healthcare and education. However, MFF’s primary philanthropic focus is on Houston, Texas, and on India.

MFF’s current mission is to create intellectual talent through global academic collaboration. To accomplish this, MFF fosters the development of new bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and ensures the success of these programs by facilitating collaboration between renowned international faculty and institutions.

In keeping with its vision of creating opportunities for students in emerging scientific fields, MFF has funded the Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta School of Biosciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to promote biosciences in a traditional engineering institution, the Mehta Family Center for Engineering in Medicine at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to advance research at the intersection of medicine and engineering, the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati to explore the uses of data science and AI to solve societal problems, and the Interdisciplinary Engineering Research Center and Graduate College of Social Work at the University of HoustonThrough these and other collaborative efforts, MFF seeks to elevate students of India’s academic institutions to new levels of excellence—academic, professional, and personal—generating a well-educated and highly skilled workforce that will drive innovation, propel economic growth, and position India as a global technological leader.
