Roorkee, 3 June 2026: The Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Roorkee has marked a significant milestone with the successful placement of its first BTech graduating batch, reflecting the School’s strong emphasis on foundational learning, interdisciplinary training, and deep-technology innovation.
All students who appeared for placements from the inaugural graduating cohort secured opportunities across leading global organisations in AI, technology, finance, analytics, and research-driven sectors, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Samsung Research, Databricks, Barclays, Visa, and Warner Bros. Discovery, among others. These outcomes reflect the School’s strong interdisciplinary foundation, industry-aligned approach to AI education, and growing reputation as a hub for future-ready AI talent and innovation-driven learning.
“This premier graduating batch is the outcome of a deliberate effort to build AI capability at the undergraduate level,” said Prof. K.K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee. “With this programme, IIT Roorkee has sought to move beyond traditional engineering pathways and create a pipeline of talent that is equipped to design, build, and deploy AI systems in real-world contexts.”
Established in 2021 in partnership with the Mehta Family Foundation (MFF), The Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is among the early dedicated undergraduate AI programmes within the IIT system set up with a clear objective: to build deep, future-ready talent at scale for an AI-driven world.

The programme has been designed to align with the rapidly evolving global AI ecosystem by combining rigorous technical education with interdisciplinary and application-oriented learning. UG students from other batches also earned internships at globally reputed organisations such as Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Salesforce, Mastercard, Samsung, Databricks, and Expedia, with several converting these opportunities into pre-placement offers. Furthermore, the School’s postgraduate programmes in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence also recorded strong industry outcomes, reflecting the growing recognition of the School’s interdisciplinary and application-oriented approach to AI education.
