Historic Kitchen Comes to Life

The Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) supported renovation of the historic community kitchen at the Gandhi Ashram, Sabarmati, Ahemdabad. The renovation enabled the facilities to make food for all 79 Anganwadis run by Manav Sadhna, a nonprofit organization based in the Gandhi ashram. In conjunction with the hostel, the Anganwadi (preschool) program at Manav Sadhna provides healthy and nutritious food to children ages 6 months to 6 years. Every day in the Manav Sadhna’s Anganwadis, more than 2,600 people receive a nutritious meal twice in a day and a value-based education. Also, ready-to-eat food is provided to more than 3,000 children ages 6 months to 3 years, and to more than 2,500 nursing mothers, expectant mothers, and adolescent girls.
