Leader in Aerosol Science, Environmental Engineering, and Clean Energy Research
Dr. Pratim Biswas is Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Miami and Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with an affiliated appointment at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. Prior to joining the University of Miami, he served as the Lucy and Stanley Lopata Professor and Chair of the Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Biswas earned his PhD from the California Institute of Technology, an MS from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay).
An internationally recognized researcher in aerosol science and engineering, Dr. Biswas was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2019 for his contributions to the fundamentals of aerosol science and engineering. He is also a Fellow of the American Association for Aerosol Research, the International Aerosol Research Assembly, and the Association of Environmental Engineering Science Professors. His research spans aerosol science, nanoparticle technology, air quality engineering, environmental nanotechnology, environmentally sustainable energy systems, combustion, public health, and clean environmental technologies. He currently serves as President of the International Aerosol Research Assembly.
