Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences and Technology at IIT Guwahati

The Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) established the Jyoti and Bhupat School of Health Sciences and Technology in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG). Nestled on the northern banks of the Brahmaputra, IITG is often considered the most beautiful campus in India. The institute houses 11 academic departments and 5 interdisciplinary centers, covering all major humanities, engineering, and science disciplines.
The new School is the 5th school funded by the Foundation. This is the 3rd healthcare related school the MFF has supported in India with schools in IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and now IIT Guwahati. With this school, the Foundation will have a total enrollment of 1,400 students comprising of 800 undergraduate, 200 masters, 400 PhD students across all five schools.
This school will have a number of key features common to all the schools supported by the Foundation. These unique features include:
- Knowledge collaboration funding
- India specific healthcare translational research
- Multidisciplinary curriculum
The Jyoti and Bhupat School of Health Sciences and Technology, to be housed in a new dedicated facility on IITG’s main campus, will offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
Professors Ananth Grama, Shankar Subramaniam, and Rajesh Gupta, all members of MFF CARE serve as international advisors, offering guidance on the school’s program design, curriculum development, and research activities. This arrangement represents MFF’s unique approach to building 21st-century talent in India, particularly in emerging scientific and technological fields.
Currently, more than 7,000 undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students attend IITG.
