Expert in Network Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Modeling
Dr. Madhav Marathe is an endowed Distinguished Professor in Biocomplexity, Director of the Network Systems Science and Advanced Computing Division at the Biocomplexity Institute and Initiative, and Professor of Computer Science at the University of Virginia.
An internationally recognized leader in transdisciplinary research, Dr. Marathe has spent more than 25 years leading large-scale collaborative projects across computer science, computational science, and data-driven systems research. His expertise spans network science, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, computational epidemiology, socially coupled systems, and advanced data analytics.
Before joining the University of Virginia, Dr. Marathe served as Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Network Dynamics and Simulation Science Laboratory at Virginia Tech. He also held leadership roles at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked in computational sciences and advanced simulation research. Dr. Marathe is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). He has published more than 350 peer-reviewed research articles in journals, conferences, and workshops.
